With Monsoon season coming to an end here in Arizona, it’s time to get things clean and in tip-top shape. I am sure during any dust storm you had your hot tub cover on to protect it, so now it’s time to clean it. Here are some tips.
Most pool stores have a vinyl cleaner you can buy to scrub your cover, but a simple mixture of soap and water, or vinegar and water can help get the dirt off.
If your cover has a mildew smell wait for a dry warm day to clean it. Unzip the cover and remove the foam inserts. Spray foam inserts with a diluted mixture of bleach and water (half a cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water). Spray insert down with mixture and allow to dry completely before putting everything back together. Be sure to rinse off any surrounding surfaces with a hose that may have gotten bleach on them.
A great tip to keep your cover from getting really dirty is to keep it dry. After storms wipe it down with a towel. When you notice your cover is heavy and water-logged take it off and take the foam inserts out and let them dry in the sun. This will help avoid mildew and having to clean it.
