Cleaning your pool after swimming with your dog.
You will need to clean your pool more often if your dog swims with you. Cleaning your pool once a week is recommended for normal us, but if your dog swims with you regularly, then cleaning it twice a week is more like it. A dog’s skin will add phosphates to your pool water. Therefore, you’ll need to treat your pool twice a week versus once weekly if you swim with your dog regularly. Keep your chlorine around 1-3 pm and keep your pH and alkalinity balanced.
Cleaning your dog after swimming in the pool.
If you have a chlorine pool, washing your dog after a swim is extra important. Chlorine can irritate your dog’s skin if it’s left too long. Saltwater pools are safer for your pet’s skin, but washing your dog after swimming in a saltwater pool is still important. All dogs are different, and there isn’t a way to know how their skin would react if left unbathed.
