What is a pool alarm?
A pool alarm is a device you add to your pool’s inside ledge with a wave sensor. The sensor would set off a loud alarm if water from a splash or wave touched it. If the device is on and someone falls into the pool, an alarm will sound because the fall will create a wave that will set the sensor.
Do you need a pool alarm?
The goal is safety when it comes to pool ownership. In Arizona, you must have certain gates, fences, and signage around your pool, but accidents can still happen. A pool alarm is one of those extra things that can be added as another line of protection. If you have children or pets ever worried about falling into the pool, an alarm might be another level of security for your peace of mind.
How can a pool alarm help?
The biggest threat to kids and pets who can’t swim is falling into the pool and seeing or hearing them. If your child, pet, or even a child’s toy were to fall into your pool, depending on the sensitivity settings on the alarm, a loud sound would alert you that something fell into the pool. The audible alert will notify you that something has fallen into the pool. A pool alarm would break that silence and hopefully save a life.
Pool alarms, like anything else that is used for safety, are never 100 percent effective. Please always watch your kids and pets around pools.
