Growing up, my parents always told me to put sunscreen on, and I would obey. I knew if I didn’t, I would be in serious pain. That was the extent of my knowledge back then, but now as an adult, I know there is more to it.
What is the specific reason we need to wear the sunscreen?
Our skin requires protection from harmful ultraviolet radiation. This is why we need sunscreen, to protect the skin from damaging UV rays. Remember, just because the sun is hidden behind clouds doesn’t mean our skin is safe from harmful UV rays that can lead to skin cancer, discoloration, and wrinkles.
How do you reduce the risk of being exposed to harmful UV rays?
Easy, stay out of the sun! Turn into a hermit and stay inside… JOKING! It would not only be “social suicide,” but your body needs Vitamin D from the sun to avoid extreme depression. You can safely protect your skin by applying and reapplying sunscreen, wearing long sleeves, taking breaks in the shade, and rocking a cowboy hat.
