The most common sickness from contaminated pool water is diarrhea. Vibrio vulnificus , a flesh-eating bacteria is another horrendous danger lurking in some waters. Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Shigella, norovirus, and E. coli—can be transmitted anytime someone who’s sick with diarrhea enters water not properly treated.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacteria often found in hot tubs because chemicals tend to break down more quickly in hot water. This bacteria causes a nasty skin rash. Hot tubs that are not tested regularly for proper chemical and PH levels are very prone to causing skin rashes.
The bacterium Legionella is found naturally in warm water and can cause problems with lung function.
