Why is my hot tub green?

BY: Alexis Harford0 COMMENTS CATEGORY: algae, Winter Pools

It’s the season of a nice relaxing hot tub experience with your significant other. You’re excited to get the jets going and enjoy a delicious drink with great company. Before you get your swimsuit on, you go to turn on the jets and get the spa vibe ready. Just as you’re pulling the cover off, you see that the water is green! YUCK! How did the water get to be this nasty green?!

When the water in the spa is green, the common cause is algae. Algae buildup occurs when there are insufficient sanitation levels. The proper amount of chlorine or bromine, needs to be present to prevent algae and bacteria growth.

No one can stomach the thought of sitting in a spa full of discolored water. Check your spa before you plan a nice dinner and spa date with your boo.
