It’s about that time you’ll want to start enjoying your pool again. The warm sun, cool water, refreshing drinks, and yummy snacks sound like a perfect day. When all of a sudden, here comes more and more bees! I’m not saying bees are evil but being stung doesn’t give off warm & fuzzy feelings. And if you’re allergic to bees, you definitely don’t get warm & fuzzy feelings after being stung. So how do we reduce bee traffic while we are trying to safely enjoys our pools?

For starters, any open drinks and uncovered food may as well be a giant “welcome” sign to bees. So, if you’re going to be grilling, be sure to clean up everything right after. Your guests can assist by throwing their trash away!

Keep the perfume, cologne, scented sunscreen, and hairspray to a 0. Bees love how sweet the nectar is and are attracted to sweet smells too! There’s no need to dump a gallon of perfume on you if you’re going in the pool. Truth is, no one cares how you smell or what your hair looks like by the pool!

You can however, use certain smells to your advantage. Bees don’t like the smell of peppermint, spearmint, eucalyptus, and thyme. You can get essential oils, add to a spray bottle with water, and spray on pool items. These items could be pool toys, furniture, and towels.

Advanced Pool Care hopes these tips help because repelling bees is better than killing them! If you think you may actually have a serious bee issue, call the professionals to get them taken care of. Always be safe and watch your kids around the pool as well as the potentially dangerous insects that enjoy the water too. For any pool cleaning needs, Advanced Pool Care can help with that… just not the bee hive! 602-920-1633
