Getting your pool equipment ready for summer

BY: Dem 850 COMMENTS CATEGORY: pool winter damage

With summer Right around the corner, it’s time to prepare everything for your pool. After months of being in storage, the first thing you should do before summer is visually inspecting all of your pool equipment for damage. Clean your equipment by giving it a good rinse with a hose to remove dust or residue. Check for cracked parts that have become brittle and other damage that may have happened during months of storage. Pool equipment is built to withstand corrosion from pool chemicals, but the combination of time, cold, dry air, and chemical residues can cause damage during storage. Regarding mechanical components like pool cleaners, be sure to take them in to be serviced and ensure all moving parts are greased up and ready to go before you want to use them.

You’ll learn over the years as a pool owner that the better condition you put away your pool equipment, the better shape it will be when you take it out in the summertime. Giving things a thorough rinse and inspection before storing your equipment will help with longevity and ease of unpacking everything.
